Need A Log Lighter Replacement? We Can Help!

When people are considering whether they prefer a wood-burning or a gas-burning appliance, they often sit with the same conundrum: “I love the ambiance of a real wood fire, but I want the convenience of gas.” Wood-fire ambiance and gas convenience don’t have to be mutually exclusive, though, since gas log lighters bring added ease to existing wood fireplaces.

Instead of wasting time and energy getting your fire crackling the old-fashioned way, why not get a little help from a log lighter and be up and running in no time.

Log Lighters Explained

Your gas log lighter, in its most basic sense, consists of a long metal burner tube that’s installed into the firebox, and carries fuel along its length. Holes in the burner tube allow small flames to easily and efficiently ignite your seasoned wood.

That design and installation makes for really convenient fires, but it can have its drawbacks: The constant effects of the high heat in your firebox can cause log lighter burner tubes to crack or warp, making those flames larger than they should be and directing flames into areas where they shouldn’t be. Fast, hot fires can lead to fireplace damage, and cracks can allow excess gas to make its way into your living area. That’s why it’s important that your log lighter be in good working condition, without damage or defect. If your gas log lighter is damaged, it is imperative that you have it replaced before using it again.

American Chimney & Masonry Installs Durable Replacement Log Lighters

If your log lighter is showing signs of wear and tear, American Chimney & Masonry techs can evaluate the damage and, if need be, install a replacement lighter that’s built to last. We recommend cast iron gas log lighters, which we’ve found to be exceptionally durable.

We’ll note any issues with your gas log lighter during your annual chimney inspection appointment, but if you notice any issues between inspections, give us a call — significant lighter damage can be dangerous, so it’s best to have repairs done before using it again.
